1-Disaster Movie is an upcoming 2008 comedy film that references movies not necessarily categorized as Disaster Films. It is written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, and stars Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian, Matt Lanter, Nicole Parker, Crista Flanagan and Vanessa Minnillo. The film is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate on August 29, 2008. It has been rated PG-13 for crude ***ual content, language, and drug references.
2-High School Musical 3: Senior Year will be the third installment in Disney's popular High School Musical franchise. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 24, 2008. Kenny Ortega returns as director and choreographer and so do all six primary actors.
3-Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (or just simply known as Madagascar 2) is the upcoming 2008 sequel to the 2005 film, Madagascar. It is in production by DreamWorks Animation and is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2008. The film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. DreamWorks announced on their website that Madagascar will become a franchise similar to that of Shrek. It has been confirmed that the film will be about the animals starting the plane on Madagascar, and then landing in Africa, and meeting some of Alex's family (a plot similar to that of Shrek 2). The movie had two working titles before finally deciding on its current title. The previous titles for the movie included "Madagascar: The Lost Island" and "Madagascar: The Crate Escape", which was featured on a trailer with Ben Stiller.
4-Ace Ventura Jr. is a second sequel to the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. It has begun production as of 2008 and has been rated PG. The film is currently scheduled to be released in September 2008.
5-X-Men Origins: Wolverine, due for release on May 1, 2009, is directed by Gavin Hood and again stars Jackman as Wolverine. It is a prequel focusing on the character and his time with Team X, before his skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. The film was mostly shot in Australia and New Zealand. David Benioff began writing the film in October 2004. The film also introduces Gambit (Taylor Kitsch) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), for whom Fox is developing spin-offs
6-Tekken is a 2009 live-action film adaptation of the popular video game series. The film follows Jin Kazama played by John Foo to rid himself of the devil which plagues his soul. Now a man, he must confront his father, Kazuya Mishima, played by Ian Anthony Dale and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. The film is being directed by Dwight Little and is set for a 2009 release date.
7-Dragonball is a 2009 American live action film adaptation of the Dragon Ball media franchise. The film follows Goku, played by Justin Chatwin, and his quest to obtain the mystical Dragonballs before the evil Lord Piccolo, played by James Marsters, can. The film began development in 2002, and is directed by James Wong and produced by Stephen Chow. It is scheduled for release on April 3, 2009.
8-Bolt is a computer animated film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, and will be Disney's 48th animated feature. The story is about Bolt, a white German Shepherd who has lived all his life on the set of a TV show in which he portrays a superhero dog, and as a result thinks that his superpowers are real. Later, he gets accidentally separated from the studio. He then meets a female cat named Mittens and a hamster who never leaves his exercise ball, and eventually he discovers that all of his powers are fake. It stars the voices of John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Malcolm McDowell, Claire Holt, Diedrich Bader, Nick Swardson, Greg Germann, Susie Essman and Mark Walton. The score will be composed by John Powell.
9-Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is an upcoming film based on the Street Fighter series of video games. It follows the quest of Street Fighter character Chun-Li, who will be portrayed by Smallville star Kristin Kreuk.[1] The film co-stars Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Chris Klein as Charlie, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, and Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo as Vega. Rick Yune was originally cast as Gen but has been replaced by Robin Shou.[2] The film is scheduled for release in 2009.
Jean-Claude Van Damme, who played Guile in the 1994 live-action film version of Street Fighter, stated that he was approached and offered a part in this movie. He turned it down because, according to him, he is now being careful in choosing film roles.
It has been confirmed on the movie's production blog that Ryu and Ken will not appear in the movie, as it is more of a Chun-Li origin story, but they may appear in future sequels
10-Friday the 13th is a 2009 American slasher film directed by Marcus Nispel, and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The film is a reboot of the Friday the 13th film series, whose last film was the 2003 crossover film Freddy vs. Jason. Nispel helmed the 2003 remake of Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, while Shannon and Swift wrote the screenplay for Freddy vs. Jason. The film stars Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees, Jared Padalecki and Amanda Righetti portraying the male and female leads, respectively. Set for a Friday, February 13, 2009 release, the film will take "elements from all three [of the first] movies".
11-In June 2002, director Steven Spielberg told Starlog magazine that he planned to produce Jurassic Park IV, and director Joe Johnston, who helmed Jurassic Park III, would direct it. In November 2002, screenwriter William Monahan was hired to write,with the film's release slated for summer 2005.In July 2003, Monahan completed the first draft, with the story no longer set in the jungle.Actor Sam Neill said he was returning as Dr. Alan Grant, with filming expected to begin in 2004 in California and Hawaii In September 2004, screenwriter John Sayles was re-writing the script, with the film re-slated for a winter 2005 release. His second draft focused on the new character Nick Harris, who returns to Isla Nublar, the location of the first film, and retrieves Dennis Nedry's can of DNA. He is captured by the Grendel corporation, which now owns InGen, and he is hired to train five genetically modified Deinonychus as mercenaries.
In October 2004, paleontologist Jack Horner said he would return as technical adviser for the fourth film as he had done for previous Jurassic Park films. By April 2005, special effects artist Stan Winston explained that the delay in production was due to repeated revisions of the film's script, none of which satisfied Spielberg. According to Winston, "He felt neither of [the drafts] balanced the science and adventure elements effectively. It's a tough compromise to reach, as too much science will make the movie too talky, but too much adventure will make it seem hollow."In February 2006, producer Frank Marshall said filming would begin in 2007 for a 2008 release. In March 2007, Sam Neill said he was not asked to reprise his role as Dr. Alan Grant, while Laura Dern was asked to return for the new film, which Universal still wanted to release by 2008. Director Joe Johnston was also reported not to be directing the film. Richard Attenborough has been contacted about
reprising the role of John Hammond. Laura Dern has confirmed her role in the film
12-The Hands of Shang-Chi :A feature film, The Hands of Shang-Chi, is in the planning
stages, with Yuen Wo Ping directing and Ang Lee producing
